Assigned an igloo in Igloolik and a tent in Gafsa, and a tropical region to analyze in section, I studied the current structures of each location. The modern highly insulated trailer homes of Igloolik that have replaced indigenous nomadic traditions have a wide range of material production in contrast to an Igloolik which is made from the surface of its surroundings. Many of those materials are extracted from the "tropical" region assigned. I mapped the material requirements of the assigned structures and their present conditions before trying to capture that sectional removal in plaster.
