The Stairs of the Ives Memorial Public Library in New Haven face out on the large common green. This project created a new entrance to the library that facilitated its existing programs and offered new space for it to move into. Based on the geometric proof of a regular pentagon, the light wells and arch bases provide a substructure that allows for a porous woven nest that allows for day and night occupation. The fluid movement between the spaces emphasis the idea that space is created by the people around us and through the act of occupying it together.
