JP AUTOBODY
This adaptive re-use project converted an abandoned mechanic’s shop to meet the brief of a neighborhood farm and community space. The project focused on making a roof play area ADA accessible. The winding path up the sloped garden derives its form from the marks left on New England forest floors as trees fall in storms. These marks provide a history of the land, as they only remain in plots that have not been recently plowed. As my neighborhood has gentrified throughout my life, many of those markers of history have been plowed under. JP Autobody, though closed, remains.
