A strip of land in New Haven, known as Long Wharf Park turns 50 yards between I-95 and the water into a food truck hub that attracts visitors year round. The community this park builds subverts the highway system that has choked-off the neighborhoods of Fair Haven and The Hill from the rest of the city. After analyzing this site, I proposed a park development and street planting system that would tie green spaces together across the city. Included in this proposal is a planting strategy that would turn the city purple in May and yellow in September without disrupting the ecological balance of the city.
